The Spokane Area Workforce Development Council's focus is:  
  • closing the skills gap 
  • supporting job creation
  • increasing wages
  • improving productivity
  • reducing poverty
  • developing a highly responsive and effective workforce system

Led By Area Business
Our members represent key industry sectors of our regional economy.     The Council is strengthened by the addition of regional education and community leaders working together to leverage resources and meet our workforce challenges.

Strategies

  • K-12 initiatives, which prepare students for further education and work (contextualized learning, career training, etc.).
  • Initiatives to upgrade skills of workers to meet emerging workforce needs (e.g., apprenticeships, certificate programs and other life-long learning initiatives.).
  • Programs to increase access to GED, Basic Skills, and other remedial education.
